What is a Co-Operative?

There are currently 260 telephone cooperatives in the United States that provide telephone, Internet, wireless, and video services to 1.2 million rural Americans in 31 states. These cooperatives serve about 5 percent of the country's telecommunications subscribers, but the areas they serve encompass about 40 percent of the nation's landmass. The independent telephone industry was developed throughout the country by farmers who pooled their resources together to establish cooperatives in the small rural communities where they lived and worked. The industry constantly changes as adjustments and improvements are made to technology, government regulations, and member preferences. As your local cooperative, BCT is proud of our more than 100-year history of serving the Beavercreek community.

We are owned by and are focused on our members. Many Internet and telecommunications providers see their network areas simply as locations on a map, but at BCT, you are our sole focus. Though we started as a telephone service provider, our products have grown as technology has advanced. We will continue to look to the future and offer innovative services. We want you to have a great member experience, and we will do whatever it takes to make sure that you do.

Most of our staff also live, work, and play in the Beavercreek area and have a significant stake in the well-being of our neighborhood. We host and sponsor a variety of community events. We regard partnerships with local nonprofit organizations and schools as important investments in our community and for the vitality of our company.
